After both "American Idol"s Jennifer Lopez and "The X Factor"s Britney Spears were slammed for their lack of qualifications by "America's Got Talent"s newest judge Howard Stern, J.Lo has offered up some veteran advice for her future rival, who was officially announced as part of the Season 2 "X Factor" judges' panel alongside fellow newcomer Demi Lovato yesterday (May 14).

"Just be yourself," Lopez advised Britney via ET Online. "I think it's just about really being your true self, not trying to be something that you're not. I feel a little scared for them 'cause I was scared when I started," J.Lo, who will soon wrap her second cycle as an "Idol" judge, admitted.

Russell Simmons RihannaGetty Images | FilmMagic

As reported by The BoomBox, although Rihanna has adopted a blithely unconcerned attitude of late, the "Cockiness" singer has been notably quiet in response to the various barbs thrown her way by her ex, Chris Brown, and sometime beau Drake. However, hip-hop's elder statesman Russell Simmons has come to her defense, tweeting on Mother's Day (May 13) "Everyone needs to get off @rihanna's d--k..." and attaching a link to a two-paragraph missive he posted on his website.

Accompanied by "scandalous" photos from Rihanna's recent shoot with Terry Richardson, the post addresses the various members of the music industry who have been "recently talking about 'good girl gone bad,' Rihanna," and further chastises her critics and ex-flames et al for insulting the singer for behavior which they applaud themselves for.

Today, as Lambert releases his new CD Trespassing, we're proud to publish our winner's moving essay. Read below for Lambert fan Antoinnette's touching story about how Adam helped her understand and grow closer to his son after he came our of the closet.

Life doesn't come with a handbook, nor does parenting. As I sit here today, I was inspired to tell you how Mr. Adam Lambert has changed my life, or rather my way of thinking, and how he has become a key to the relationship I currently have with my child. I wish I could say that everything is perfect when it comes to parents and their children, but I would be lying. I wish I could say that being a single parent is easy, but it isn't. And I wish I could say that finding out my son was gay was easy ... but I can't. Over the last few years, I've been working on the relationship I have with my son. How do I begin? With some history of course!

Since scrapping his entire 2012 spring tour after his serious throat condition returned in March, John Mayer has had some much-needed time to reflect. The troubled singer made headlines for all the wrong reasons back in 2010, thanks to infamous Playboy and Rolling Stone interviews in which he crudely called his ex Jessica Simpson a "drug" and described her as "sexual napalm." He also kissed and told about his ex Jennifer Aniston, described his obsession with porn, dropped the N-word and said, "My d--k is sort of like a white supremacist."

Now, two years later, Mayer has spoken up about the controversial comments in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

"I just sort of lost my head for a little while," Mayer, 34, confessed. "I kind of lost touch, and I didn't want to ask for directions. I did a couple of dumb interviews, and it kind of woke me up," he added.

The Wanted Sessions: Talking Freaky Fans, One Direction and Ridiculous Rumors With the Breakout Brits

The Wanted SessionsGino DePinto, AOL

Having a conversation with The Wanted isn't easy. That's not to say the guys aren't friendly ... just the opposite in fact. But the group has this unharnessed energy that keeps the exchange going a mile a minute, with Jay finishing Siva's sentences and Max cracking raunchy jokes. If you can keep up with the five guys, who found fame stateside with their hits like "Glad You Came" and "Chasing the Sun," the conversation is actually quite refreshing. In a world of manufactured and media trained pop acts, the guys (for lack of a better term) keep it real.

During a break from their recent AOL Sessions, I had one of those types of chats with the British breakout band. On a set filled with cameramen, photographers and sound techs all listening on, the guys held nothing back -- discussing everything from the fan who seriously freaked them out to mistaking David Beckham for a wax figure. Check out our entire convo below.
