In the magical all-Britney episode, the glee club demands Britney performances, but Will doesn't think she's such a great role model -- so, naturally, they do it anyway -- through their own interpretations. Sue, on the other hand, makes it known that Britney Spears is the absolute queen of pop, but that she doesn't want any "Britney Spears sex riot," and quite literally pulls the plug on the glee club.
John Stamos makes a guest appearance as dentist Carl, who helps Brittany and Santana get their "anesthesia on." Under the influence, Brittany dreams of seducing Carl with 'I'm a Slave 4 U' and many notorious Britney costume changes. There's even a giant yellow boa constrictor around her neck -- a homage to Britney's 2001 MTV VMAs performance -- and dance moves that are spot-on. Santana and Brittany duet 'Me Against the Music,' with Santana in a white suit, channeling Madonna. Britney appears -- in the flesh -- at the end of the dream, which causes Brittany to realize that she's on par with Miss Spears and demand more 'Glee' solos.
While Carl has his hands on her pearly-whites, innocent-faced Rachel dreams herself as the teen idol in a solo-performance of '...Baby One More Time,' which prompts her to develop a "new look" (school-girl Britney circa 1999), making ex-football star Finn a bit uncomfortable.
Carl is Emma's new love interest, and there's obvious tension between Carl and Will. Will encourages Carl to take on the dental hygiene of the McKinley High glee club -- because kids can't sing without teeth, right? Ever the glee club coach, Will gets his chance to shine with a short breakdown of 'Sailing' by Christopher Cross, whom he'd tried to get the kids into.
Under the gas and with high hopes to become an athlete, wheelchair-bound Artie takes the lead in a rendition of Spears' 'Stronger' out on the football field, with the football team -- in full pads and uniforms -- at his back. Unpredictable Coach Beiste has a change of heart and allows Finn, and Artie, to be on the team.
Will caves and agrees to let New Directions perform a song from their idol at the school's homecoming -- under the premise that he gets to sing with them -- and the 'Glee' kids' ensemble performance of 'Toxic' in the auditorium really gets the McKinley High students going. Will really steals this performance, which is obvious by the looks Emma gives him from the bleachers.
'Glee' superstar Rachel closes out the show with the only non-Britney song of the episode -- a rendition of Paramore's 'The Only Exception' -- directed at her troubled relationship with Finn. After testing him with his old flame Quinn, she realizes that he really loves her and that he's worth holding on to.
Multiple dream sequences and real-life Britney cameos made the highly-anticipated 'Britney/Brittany' episode of 'Glee' -- as Heather Morris predicted -- totally "Spearstastic." Rumor has it we'll see another Britney episode when 'Glee' season 2 returns after the Superbowl.
