Perry, 25, and Brand, 35, who first became engaged in India in Dec. '09, were married in a traditional Hindu wedding at a luxury property within a wild tiger sanctuary. The ceremony was the highlight of a six-day celebration, including a Bollywood-themed party on Friday night. Coverage of the event was sold to a London news outlet and no other journalists were allowed entry.
The Press Trust of India news agency is reporting that 21 camels, horses and elephants "formed part of Russell Brand's wedding procession," accompanied by traditional Indian musicians and dancers. Katy Perry and her groom both reportedly wore traditional Indian attire for the ceremony, conducted by a Hindu priest. At a celebration on the eve of the wedding, Perry's hands and palms were designed with henna art, in the custom of Indian brides. She and other female guests were reportedly wearing saris for the wedding itself. You can see photos of the newly married couple this morning -- Katy Perry's 26th birthday -- heading to a flight out of India's Jaipur airport here.
