The most recent issue arose as Lil Wayne is serving one month in solitary confinement for being caught using banned music equipment -- an mp3 player. The New York Daily News is reporting that Captain Raphael Collazzo is said to have been caught on camera making an unscheduled 45-minute visit to the rapper's cell, which is a violation of his solitary confinement. As a result the officer has been suspended for 10 days. Patrick Ferraiuolo, president of the union for Department of Correction captains, is adamant Collazzo didn't break any rules.
This is not the first run-in for a Lil Wayne guard, Correction officer Amelia Negron was fired from her job in April after being accused of trying to enter Wayne's cell and get a closer look at him. Negron denied the charges. And in September, investigators questioned Captain Latanya Brown for allegedly allowing Wayne to stay in his cell while other inmates were locked out of their bunks and ordered into the recreation yard.
