Now AllHipHop is reporting that the Ramsey County medical examiners office confirmed Eyedea died from opiate toxicity. Chief investigator Don Gorrie told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that the specific drugs found in the rapper's body were not disclosed because it is not public information.
A regular on the battle-scene, Eyedea grew in popularity after strong showings at the 'Scribble Jam' in 1999 and HBO's 'Blaze Battle' in 2000. Teamed with his childhood friend Max Keltgen, aka Abilities -- who himself was a two-time DMC champion -- Eyedea & Abilities garnered respect from everyone in the hip-hop world with releases on the Minneapolis underground hip-hop label Rhymesayers.
