Rihanna Reveals AMA Performance is 'A Lot of Pressure'

Rihanna is set to kick start the American Music Awards Sunday (Nov. 20) evening, but not without feeling a few butterflies first. The Bajan songstress will be the ceremony's opening act, a feat that comes with its share of headaches and excitement.


"We're actually performing at the AMAs," the 'Loud' singer tells MTV News. "We're actually opening up the show, which is a lot of pressure. But I love a challenge and I can't wait."

The fiery-haired entertainer was reluctant in spilling the secret about which song she'll perform off her new LP, but she hinted it may be the celebratory tune, 'Cheers (Drink To That). A natural when it comes to commanding the stage, even Rih Rih gets nervous when it comes to entertaining millions of viewers at home.
"They gave me nine minutes to do whatever I want and I can't wait," she shares. "That's a long time on an awards show, but it's going to be exciting. I can't wait. I can't wait to do it. I really can't."

The 'Love The Way You Lie (Part II)' collaborator is also nominated for Favorite Female Artist, under the category of Soul/Rhythm & Blues Music, along with Alicia Keys and Sade. Besides Rihanna,Taylor Swift, the Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and New Kids on the Block, among others, will showcase stellar vocal skills during their respective performances.
