Justin Bieber may have been in the running alongside veteran artists Usher and Eminem for the Favorite Male Artist award under the Pop and Rock Music category, but the teen sensation's age didn't prevent him from winning the award at the American Music Awards this evening (Nov. 21).

The Canadian pop star took home the coveted trophy, presented to him by singer Keri Hilson. As he cradled the award, the 16-year-old Usher protégé offered a sincere acceptance speech. "I cant stop smiling," Bieber exclaimed. "I've been singing Eminem since I was 3. Usher is my mentor, you know. Again, I thank all my fans, my family."

After paying respect to his loyal supporters, the 'Baby' crooner capped off his sentiments by including a deceased performer who had a tremendous impact on his career.
"I want to thank Michael Jackson," he continued. "I want to thank Michael Jackson because without Michael Jackson none of us would be here."

Before earning the Favorite Male Artist award, Bieber took home the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist title. He beat out B.o.B, Taio Cruz, Jason Derulo, Ke$ha, Lady Antebellum, Travie McCoy and Mike Posner. The youngster also performed the uplifting ballad, 'Pray,' a song off his forthcoming album, 'My Worlds Acoustic.'
