Ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, country singer Merle Haggard and Broadway composer Jerry Herman were among those honored last night at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle hosted this year's Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. on Sunday night [Dec. 5]. The event also paid tribute to TV star Oprah Winfrey and dancer-choreographer Bill T. Jones. Paul McCartney was treated to a rendition of 'Hello, Goodbye' by No Doubt, and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler performed a medley of songs from 'Abbey Road.' James Taylor and Mavis Staples closed out the show with 'Let It Be' and 'Hey Jude.'
"I've done a lot of things and been a lot of places," Steven Tyler told the audience. "But I've never been prouder than I am standing right here at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Abbey Road."
