'Detox' will be Dr. Dre's third and final studio album, but has been dogged by setbacks and rumors since he began working on it way back in 2003. Originally slated for release back in 2005, Dr. Dre pushed it back to work on other commitments like Eminem's 'Recovery' and 50 Cent's 'Before I Self Destruct,' but by 2007 said he had completed 18 potential tracks for the album.
In Dec. 2008, Dr. Dre had told MTV that 'Detox' was finished, and would be released the following year. He premiered the first official snippet of 'Detox' in a Dr. Pepper commercial in May of 2009, and everyone from Snoop Dogg to Ludacris was bragging about being involved in the album's production, but by the end of 2009, it still hadn't arrived.
Then in Jan. of 2010, Dr. Dre revealed that the album would not be released until 2011, adding doubt to 'Detox''s legitimacy. But nearly a full year later, on Dec. 10, the first official video and single from the album was released. 'Kush,' featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon, is the first non-leaked music we've heard off of 'Detox.' hopefully meaning its 2011 release is imminent. Dr. Dre's first solo album since 1999's '2001' is officially slated to be released in Feb. 2011.
