Pete Wentz and Rev Run in Twitter-Fueled Race to Super Bowl

Pete Wentz and Rev Run helped kick off the first ever Twitter-fueled race last week, a charity event that will take two teams of contestants driving in Mercedes Benz cars down to Super Bowl XLV in Dallas.

The Fall Out Boy rocker and Run DMC veteran will be joined by tennis star Serena Williams and New York Yankee Nick Swisher as the "coaches" for their two-person teams. Each team will embark from a different U.S city -- New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Tampa -- on Feb. 2, arriving in Dallas by the game on Feb. 4. Their progress will be "fueled" by the amount of Twitter activity each coach generates, plus its performance in a series of challenges along the way – meaning teams and their celebrity coaches will need to fully engage their social networks to receive the "Tweet Fuel" needed to reach the finish line.

Mercedes Benz has already donated to each celebrity judge's charity of choice, and the driving team that reaches Dallas at the end of the race with the highest total score will see their charity get an extra donation. It's not all done in vain, the winning pair of drivers will also receive all-new 2012 Mercedes Benz C-Class Coupes.

Rev Run and Wentz have already got the Twitter war started, "It's official: I'll be a Team Coach in the #mbtweetrace." Rev Run tweeted. Wentz sent a personal request to Run, "hey @RevRunWisdom if my team wins #mbtweetrace can i get a personal inspiring words of wisdom tweet from you?" to which Run responded, "Done! But @Petewentz IF I win you have to convince @Nickswisher to help me with my baseball swing! Lol."

You can follow all of the Twitter activity at #mbtweetrace and enter to compete for a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe here.
