News officially broke three months ago that John would be helping Morrison (who plays glee club director Mr. Schuester), but the two officially recorded the song this Monday to John's (and we're sure, Morrison's) delight. "I just did it," says John in a Parade interview. "It's a duet. It's ... really fantastic. He sings great on it." The Rocket Man even revealed that their duet is a mashup of two songs from John's 1972's 'Honky Château.' "It's a medley of 'Mona Lisas and Madhatters' going into 'Rocket Man.'
Morrison, 32, says that he initially wanted to make a solo album that was "Glee"-friendly - full of popular songs that would attract a younger audience - but it quickly morphed into something entirely different. "I don't want to make a 'Glee' album," says Morrison. "I want to do something that's really personal to me." His debut, 'Bringing It to the Masses,' will be out next month.
There's no word on whether the students of McKinley will cover any Elton John tunes in an upcoming episode, but he seemed excited at the possibility. "Of course, I'd be into that, he says. "It's always great when someone covers your songs, no matter how good or bad the version is. You know, I started out as a songwriter, so I always get a kick out of that."
