The racy video, featuring a latex-clad Rihanna tying and whipping men, simulated sex with blow-up dolls and the singer sucking a banana and tied-up in some scenes, has been banned. The song lyrics like 'Sex in the air, I don't care, I love the smell of it. Sticks and stones may break my bones. But chains and whips excite me' has resulted in some radio stations cutting it from their playlists, including BBC's Radio 1. MTV is also considering re-editing the video for daytime play.
Most recently, YouTube users are being asked to verify that they are 18 years or older before viewing the video. The singer responded to the age restriction by posting 'S&M' song clips and the video on her website. 'They watched 'Umbrella,' says the singer via her Twitter account. "I was full nude."
Rihanna's 'sexy' side has been out for all to see lately. The singer recently confirmed that some semi-nude photos were in fact of her and has been romantically linked to singer Nick Minaj and author Natasha Burton.
