Christina Aguilera Flubs the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLV

Christina Aguilera's nerves may have gotten the best of her at Super Bowl XLV on Sunday night (Feb. 6), as the 30-year-old songstress performed 'The Star-Spangled Banner' and flubbed some of the anthem's lyrics. At the song's start, Aguilera sang, "what so proudly we watched at the twilight's last [unintelligible lyric]," instead of "'O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming."

Despite her mistake, Christina, dressed in all-black-everything -- tailored black jacket and black skirt -- was still warmly accepted by the crowd full of Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers fans at the Dallas stadium. As her performance came to a close, the blond singer thrust her hand in the air, making emphasis on the last note she was to belt out. To close out her riveting rendition, four fighter jets flew in the sky overhead.

Heart and soul my foot. She always tries to impress by belting out the loudest notes she can hit (and she missed alot of them here) instead of singing songs the way they're meant to be sung. Shouting isn't singing. It is for that reason alone that I do not buy anything by her. She has taken something Whitney Houston gave us and mutilated it. Christina is not the best singer, though she may be the most popular bad singer there is.

How disappointed I am with her version. Sure hope next year they get someone who has enough respect to learn the song, she also sounded like she was in pain, with the words she did know. what were they thinking? this super bowl was a bust for the fans...
