Ashlee Simpson has filed for divorce from Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz.

According to TMZ, in documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Simpson has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce and is asking for primary care and joint legal custody of their two-year-old son Bronx. TMZ is also reporting that Simpson is asking for spousal and child support, and that the couple did not have a pre-nuptual agreement.

The last time we heard from the couple was back in October, when Ashlee's hair color was making headlines. At the time, the couple seemed happy, with Wentz tweeting a picture of his wife's new do with the words, "Yah fam headed out tonight stoked! Cute hair mama!"

In a joint statement, the pair asked for privacy and stressed their commitment to their son. "After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce," the couple said through a spokesperson. "We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives."

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz originally married in 2008. Simpson, who was also going by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, is currently working on her fourth studio album and the launch of her clothing line.
