Lady Antebellum Are Night's Big Winners at 2011 Grammy Awards

Even though the ever-flamboyant Lady Gaga went all-out, arriving at the 53rd Grammy Awards ceremony in an egg-shaped pod, it was country trio Lady Antebellum who stole the show, scoring five Grammys. "This year changed everything for us," said tearful co-vocalist Hillary Scott. The band's 'Need You Now' earned them trophies for Best Country Song, Best Country Performance, Best Country Album, Song of the Year and Record of the Year.

No slouch herself, Lady Gaga grabbed three Grammys, one for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Short Form Video for 'Bad Romance' and Best Pop Vocal Album for 'The Fame Monster.' Rapper Jay-Z won three awards in the pre-telecast ceremony while Eminem, the most-nominated artist with 10 nods, picked up only one award: Best Rap Album for 'Recovery.'

The two upsets of the night came in the shape of a jazz bassist/singer and a Canadian indie-rock band. Esperanza Spalding won Best New Artist, beating out heavyweights Justin Bieber, Drake, Florence & the Machine and Mumford & Sons, while Arcade Fire were awarded Best Album for their 2010 break-out 'The Surburbs,' closing the show with the song 'Ready to Start.'

I felt the same way about Rianna and Drake. Their gyrations were obscene to say the least. What's going on? Isn't music what this show is supposed to be about, not some porn show?

How is Arcade Fire winning Album of the Year considered an 'upset of the night'? If anything it was the most well deserved win of the night. They're the most talented musician in their category, and The Suburbs was a groundbreaking album, therefore they won.

How could Lady Antebellum win with I Need You now for 2011 when the song was released in 2009. That song is not that great.

Love Alicia Keyes, however her , and that other so called singer J- whatever... really ruined that New York song. They needed to leave that one alone.

how does someone like eminem get to win grammys, he is so out out of control and a terrible influence on young minds. His lyrics speak of nothing positive and should be banned from radio. we need to get back to real family values if we are to save our young people.

And everyone is talking about Lady Gaga, but what about that Rihanna performance with Drake... that was absolutely distasteful and if my daughter had still been up, I would have turned the channel immediately. That performance should not have been shown on live TV... I could not believe what I was seeing on TV... I'm all for thinking outside of the box... and really thought Lady Gaga was over the top and that was kind of cool, but come on... not much left to the imagination of the Rihanna performance.

A country music groups won 5 grammys, WOW!!... This happen when you sing with clarity and not scream, hollers, yell like all the rest of the R&B, raps or rocks performer belts out and worst you can't even hear what they are saying beside seeing dress themselves funny.

Okay... I have one question... how is it that the Album of the Year did not win in their category, Best Alternative Music Album? First of all, whomever Arcade Fire is... they are terrible... but I don't understand how they did not win the category of Best Alternative, but won the Album of the Year??? That is just ridiculous to me... And that was just a bunch of noise. At least Lady A won in almost all of their categories. How are the Grammys decided any way? It just doesn't make sense for a group that is nominated in their own categories, doesn't win, but takes home Album of the Year (which I will never buy because I thought they were terrible)!
