Justin Timberlake may take his comedic acting to a whole new level, as the reported top choice to play one of The Three Stooges.
Directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly want the singer to play frizzy-haired Stooge, Larry Fine in their upcoming Three Stooges movie, out next year.
"We haven't cast it yet, we haven't picked anyone," says Bobby Farrelly in an interview with the Boston Herald. "It's a little tricky, right? Because they all have to be about the same age and even around the same height. We're waiting for that first person that we're going to say, 'This is going to be our Moe, Larry or Curly' and we'll build around that. But it's going to happen soon. It will be within three weeks."
Filming for the movie begins this April, and the Farrelly Brothers have yet to cast the remaining comedy legends. Originally, the Farrelly Brothers had their cast set with Benecio Del Toro as Moe, Sean Penn as Larry and Jim Carrey as Curly, but when Penn and Carrey signed out, the directors needed to replace the other two Stooges. (Johnny Knoxville, Hank Azaria and Andy Samberg have also been rumored considerations for different Stooges.)
For the role of Larry, the Farrelly Brothers are also considering Woody Harrelson and Larry David for the Stooge, who passed away in 1975 at the age of 72, during different stages of his life.
