Justin Bieber's Hair Sells for $40,688

Justin Bieber just made tens of thousands of more dollars -- from his hair. The 'Baby' singer's locks sold on eBay yesterday with a final bid of $40,688.

Bieber, who cut his hair last week -- to the dismay of some 85,000 fans who dropped the singer on Facebook after the cut -- wanted to use his locks to help raise money for charity and shared them with Ellen DeGeneres just one day after cut. DeGeneres put the locks up on eBay, and within the first hour, Bieber's hairs were already up to $10,000 in bids. The auction ended yesterday and helped raise $40,688 for the the Gentle Barn, an animal rescue organization in Santa Clarita, Calif., which was chosen by DeGeneres.

As part of the winning bidder's prize, they will get to meet Bieber during his next appearance on the Ellen Show.

The singer's charitable ways did not stop at the hair. As part of his 17th birthday wish yesterday, he urged fans to donate at least $17 to the Charity: Water foundation, which provides clean water to those in need. Bieber has already helped raised more than $44,000 (and growing), which surpassed the $17,000 campaign goal.

My comment is directed to Chris Favre who posted "Her name says all that is wrong with this country. How can a countyt founded on moral values and GODly principal let a degenerate like Ellen DeGeneres become a famos person that is SICK and that is what America has become no wonder other countries hate us....GOD please help this countyr reclaim it's soul and get rid of all of the liberal sicko's..." towards Ellen DeGeneres. For someone who is so pious, you should remember "Judge not lest ye be judged" and "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone". I am a Christian and have been married to a wonderful man for 11 years. Ms. Degeneres always presented herself as a loving, kind, caring person and I respect her for that.

Help a cause

2. Thanks for sharing the information with us. But you know you could be a little more descriptive. You have written about online fundraising but it missed some vital points. There are many sites offering people to Donate to charity, but donating for the right cause is important. Help a cause, Help people

Yeah, it wouldn't be too bad if the deal was that JB would match the donation for his locks. So, it's celeb hype to get us poor peasants to spend our $$ on their whims.

To those who are saying they should clone him with his hair...even if that were possible, you would need his hair folicle. You can't get dna from a hair clipping.

That person who paid the huge amount of money for J's hair caould have donated the money directly under his/her own name. And I believe that JB took advantage of somebody's stupidity to make some money to donate for charity intention. He should have donated from his own wealth.

I dont think people understand that celebrities donate money all the time. The reason celebrities do things like this is to get EVERYONE into donating money. Obviously celebrities can throw money at charities, but the point is to get others to donate too. Think of all the people who aren't famous and are doing well in this economy, and would help out for something silly like this. It doesn't make that person stupid for buying the help, their helping out a CHARITY. The point is to get others to donate too, just because celebrities don't broadcast it everytime they donate, doesn't mean the dont.
And to the idiot who was talking about the countries "moral values", learn how to spell country first..Idiot
