Grammy award-winning pop singer Mya was in Miami last Saturday (Feb. 26, 2011) to release her single 'Love is the Answer' -- the first release from her new album 'K.I.S.S.' which is slated to be released in late April. AOL Music got to chat with the singer in between her photo shoot for the magazine 'Today's Black Woman' at Bath House Studios in Miami Beach.

Tell us about your new album and why did titled it 'K.I.S.S'?
It's a classic Mya album which always includes a variety of sounds and tempos. Club bangers, soulful R&B, pop ballads and substance. 'K.I.S.S' stands for "Keep It Sexy and Simple." I named it that because it's sealed with a kiss as gift from me to my fans. It's about keeping it simple by keeping negative energy and unnecessary things to a minimum. Being simple is sexy to me. The title song 'K.I.S.S.' explains it further.

Is there anything new on the album as far as sounds that your fans haven't heard from you before or that you experimented with?
There are two J Pop songs on the album. 'Fabulous Life' and 'Alive' which both charted at #1 in Japan already. This is a new fun sound for me ... and I'm ready to have some FUN!

What inspired the single 'Love is the Answer'?
So many things inspired it. Humanity, togetherness and the causes I'm involved with like NOH8 campaign. It's all about universal love and acceptance regardless of differences over a hot dance track that gets the party going.

Why did you decide to have the official release party for the single in Miami's club Liv?
It's one of the hottest clubs in Miami and I have a lot of friends that are coming through tonight. I also recorded it with Cedric Gervais and he lives here.

I know you live in Washington, D.C., but is there another favorite city you like to visit?
D.C. is my stomping ground, but Miami is one of my favorite cities to visit. It's beautiful here. I feel relaxed and I find it to be balanced. I also like the beach and I tend to work out harder when I'm in Miami because of its beautiful scenery. I recorded some of my album here. I'm coming back for the International Dance Music Awards and the Winter Music Conference.

Are there any favorite restaurants you like to eat at when your visiting Miami?
I like Joe's Stone Crabs, Larios and Prime 112, but I'm a vegetarian now.

Why are you a vegetarian?
Well, I just became a full-time vegetarian on Jan. 1 as part of my 2011 365-day resolution. I'm hoping it will lead to a permanent decision.

What other future goals do you have?
I'd like to open my own 24-hour facility to teach and empower youth. I currently run the Mya Arts & Tech Foundation that operates out of charter schools in the summer.
