Jason Derulo Turns Down Lead in Hendrix Biopic

Like Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, Jason Derulo has been offered the chance to give acting a shot -- even the opportunity to play legendary guitar god Jimi Hendrix.

However, Derulo has other things on his mind.

"I've turned down a lot of movies and commercials and one of them was for an autobiography of Jimi Hendrix playing the main man," he told the UK's Daily Record. "That would have been really cool but I can't do it because I'm trying to balance my album and tour."

And it looks like his hectic performance schedule has taken such a toll on his health that his doctors have told him to stop talking. "My throat doctor has put me on vocal rest for five days," he said. "Could you imagine not talking for five days? It sucks."

Despite having to limit the conversations like Celine Dion's pre-show ritual, Derulo knows that this is key to finishing his sophomore record. "If I don't let my vocal cords heal, I may develop a serious problem," he said. "It's such terrible timing, as I'm trying to complete my album."
