In his appearance on 'Saturday Night Live' this past weekend, the 'Rocket Man' joked about parenthood during the opening monologue, saying he still hasn't "lost the baby weight" and let it slip that Gaga was godmother. John and partner David Furnish recently became parents to son Zachary, who was born this past Christmas.
"For those of you concerned that we are unusual parents, don't worry," said John. "It's not like we are the only two people involved in the child's life. His godmother is Lady Gaga. That is true. It's not a joke. Lady Gaga is his actual godmother, which is ironic, because I've always said that Mars ain't the kind of place to raise your kids. And Gaga loves Mars. She says Mars has good schools and great discos."
For awhile, John was hush on the identity of his son's godmother, but Furnish never denied that it wasn't Gaga when asked earlier this year. "She's all about inclusiveness and tolerance," said Furnish. "She believes that you can be whoever you want to be and that we don't have to live in a world of conformity and that we can all [benefit] from individuality. That's the best message in the world. The freedom to be who you are, do what you want and love who you want to love."
Gaga even denied that she was the godmother in a recent BBC Radio 1 interview. "I don't really want to reveal anything," she said. "They're going to make many lovelyannouncements about their beautiful son Zachary. I'm too much of a lady to talk about that on the air."
