'Glee's Matthew Morrison Collaborates With 'Idol' Star Kris Allen

'American Idol' season 8 winner Kris Allen has penned a track for 'Glee' star Matthew Morrison. The song, 'Still Got Tonight,' was already recorded by the time the two stars met face-to-face for the very first time yesterday (April 27).

Allen was in the middle of Skype interview for MTV News when Morrison made a surprise appearance on the webcam. The two stars went on to explain the "funny story" of how the song made its way from 25-year-old Allen to 32-year-old Morrison without the two parties ever meeting.

"I got my hands on the song. It was an amazing song, and I didn't find out until a little later on that Kris was a writer on it," Morrison explains. "It was kind of strange, 'cause he didn't know either that I had done it," he adds.

"I had no idea," Allen chimed in. "I got an email from the other writers saying 'Urgent, urgent,' and then I read it, and it said that Matthew Morrison was going to sing the song, and I was pretty stoked about it." That explains the unplanned Morrison cameo in Allen's interview. "That's why we're here today. We thought we'd hang out," says Allen.

Between filming (and planning to direct) episodes of the hit show 'Glee,' Morrison is busy working on a solo album, recording with stars like Sir Elton John.

Great song. I'm not a big television watcher so did not know Matthew. I wanted to hear the song because of the Kris Allen connection. I'm glad the two other writers Andrew Frampton and Steve Kipner pitched it to Matthew and he loved it. I loved the song too the first time I heard it and have already bought it. Matthew does a good job on the vocals. So - thanks to Kris Allen, I'm now a fan of Matthew's, too.

Thank you for this article. It's good to see how happy Matt is that he got his hands on this song. Many people have already known how great a song writer Kris Allen is and I'm glad he's finally getting some recognition for it. I think they should make this song Matt's first single, rather than the second, which they seem to have indicated. It's too good to put in the corner.

Best of luck to Matt and Kris, as well as Kris' two collaborators Andrew and Steve.
