Lauren Alaina Unveils 'Like My Mother Does' Single -- Exclusive First Listen

Last night, 16-year-old Chattanooga, Tenn. native Lauren Alaina became the 'American Idol' runner-up to winner Scott McCreery. The 10th season finale of the Fox juggernaut wasn't short on emotions with Alaina's final performance, a duet with her 'Idol' idol Carrie Underwood. The pair sang the country vixen's 'Before He Cheats,' showing that Alaina can hold her own with the biggest of stars.

Over the past few weeks, Alaina has made a name for herself as quite the Southern chanteuse, pulling influence from Carrie Underwood to Faith Hill. The singer's stage presence and vocal prowess has been undeniable, as the teen can hit the highest notes with grace and precision. When she sang her country single 'Like My Mother Does,' she inspired judge Steven Tyler to say "The first time I saw you I thought you were my 'American Idol,' and now I think America will find it to be true." Alaina's costar, 17-year-old Garner, N.C. singer Scotty McCreery has been the other half of this season's country influence, with a showmanship that resembles his hero -- arena star Garth Brooks. The singer first picked up a guitar at the age of 10 and often impersonated Elvis Presley.

His performance of 'Gone' by Montgomery Gentry showed off the Carolinian's vocal range from Southern baritone to country-fried tenor. McCreery ended the show with a tearful rendition of his single 'I Love You This Big,' a classic-sounding country tune, that prompted 'Idol' judge Jennifer Lopez to say earlier in the season that McCreery was a "beautiful storyteller."

scotty and lauren are so cute toghether i think they would make a cute couple,i agree with u patty god does know what he is doing, i belive scotty is a chirsten, he so sweet, he's a total package. team scotty

Both Lauren and Scotty are right where they are suppose to be. God knows what he is doing and he has great plans for them both. This years American Idol was the best. It was great to see two country music contestants as the finalist. It really does not matter that Lauren didn't win because she will be a big as Carrie Underwood one day. I will admit that I totally thought Lauren had it in a bag over Scotty with her song Like My Mother Does; but I was wrong. However, I will also admit James was the best and I pray he makes it big with his rock & roll music.

Lauren is one of the most talented young ladies to come along in Country Music in a long line of performers and that song, "Like My Mother Does" brings one to tears with not only the words but the "soul" that Lauren put into it. Each time I play it, it is word for word, exactly an anthem for all Mothers and daughters and Lauren showed that in her last performance on "American Idol" by going out into the audience and hugging her Mom! Wouldn't the world be a much better place if families felt that way about each other the world over? Lauren came home tonight to her brother's high school graduation and had it set up for her to come in without taking the spotlight away from him and his "moment". And she fit right in without that "Hollywood" glare. Such a wonderful young lady! Congratulations to Scotty, by the way, who won the competition and deserves it too. Both of them are WINNERS!!

Hard to beleive that this season has come to an end. A great season with so much excellant talent it became very difficult to vote for any one person. I did have Scotty picked and voted for Him to the end. It got real hard down the line to watch somebody be voted off. There were 6>

Lauren your crisp, clear, effortless voice is in the category of the greats . Martina McBride ,Tammy wynette, Reba ,Carrie Underwood, ...A true... Flat -out country singer legend in the making....you ...go... girl......

Didn't really like anyone this year. But if I'd had to choose it would have been James Durban. Doubt I'll even watch next year. Its just not the same without Simon & Paula..............

I LOVED LAUREN ALAINA..... SHE DEF SHOULD HAVE WON. IS IT JUST ME??? BUT SHE HAS A MUCH, MUCH BETTER VOICE THAN SCOTTY.... NOT SAYING SCOTTY CAN'T SING, BUT..... LAUREN, SHE'S THE REAL DEAL. YOU'RE AN AMERICAN IDOL IN MINE AND MY KIDS' EYES, LAUREN..... LOVED YOUR LAST SONG, TOO. IT WAS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL... MADE ME CRY..... GOOD LUCK TO YOU, CAN'T WAIT TO BUY YOUR FIRST CD.....

i loved james durbin but these two were such stand-outs the entire season that i'm glad it came down to these two. they will both have careers in country music. wouldn't be surprised to see tim mcgraw take him on the road for a tour one of these days. way to go scotty
