Derulo grabs the famous island-inspired Harry Belafonte song 'Day-O (Banana Boat Song)' and samples the Robin S. '90s club hit 'Show Me Love' for the song. In the video, Derulo gets it poppin' with a dance party in vacant warehouse. AOL Music got the details on the new video from Derulo himself. What's the story behind 'Don't Wanna Go Home'?
I wanted to create a feel-good song that would allow those going through rough times at home an escape for a few minutes. This is my first club banger and it was partly inspired by my being 21 and experiencing a new world. I wrote the video treatment and Rich Lee (director) took it to the next level. This video is not about going to the club but never leaving. You'll find more dancing than you've ever seen me do.
What was your favorite moment shooting the video for 'Don't Wanna Go Home'?
My favorite moment for me was shooting the water scene at the end. It was a little cold but the most fun I've ever had on a shoot.
If you could dance with anybody, from the past or the present, who would it be?
If I could dance with anyone it would hands down be MJ. My inspiration ... God rest his soul.
What's next for you?
Next up is my album release (this September). 'Future History' is my second album and is my greatest accomplishment to date. Can't wait for the world to get a taste!
