Rapper Pitbull revealed the rapid-rump-shaking Shakira was his first choice for the featured spot on the Afrojack-produced track. "I tried to get Shakira on the record but, due to some personal things she was going through, she couldn't jump on the record," he admitted.
Shakira-less, Pitbull turned to Miami model/singer Nayer -- and of course, later added Ne-Yo's sultry vocals on the hook.
'Give Me Everything' became Pitbull's first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, dethroning Adele's seven-week reign at the top of the US charts last week (June 30). The hit's appeal is global, claiming the No. 1 spot on charts in the UK, Belgium, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, and landing within the top five in 12 countries.
And to think Shaki could have been basking in all that glory too! The consolation prize is Shakira's current single 'Rabiosa,' which features Pitbull and has charted well abroad, but is nowhere near the success of 'Give Me Everything.'
