Admittedly still on the mental and emotional mend, Demi Lovato has insisted that her breakup with Joe Jonas is not what caused the meltdown that preceded her decision to go to rehab. Lovato has also expressed regret over lying to her fans in the past about her self-harming habits.

The 19-year-old comeback queen is flying high on the success of her first single since rehab, 'Skyscraper,' and she's taking her moment in the spotlight to clear some things up about the infamous incident that was the final straw that pushed Demi to finally seek treatment for issues that included eating disorders, cutting and depression. While in treatment, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

The singer lost her temper and struck a back-up dancer during a flight last October, before pulling out of a world tour with the Jonas Brothers early and checking into rehab.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Demi has refused to blame the meltdown she suffered on her breakup with Joe Jonas, after reports suggested Demi lashed out at the dancer in a jealous rage.

She told the magazine, "When you punch someone on a plane, enough is enough. I just felt like she betrayed me. That's the bottom line." She continued, "I was completely out of line all summer. Just the worst attitude, totally ungrateful. [But] I wouldn't credit my meltdown to a guy. There was so much other stuff in my life."

Demi also told Elle she regrets deceiving fans about her struggles with self-mutilation. Lovato was just 16 when she was photographed with red scratches on her inner wrist. Her publicist told fans the scars on the Disney star's wrists were just indents left by tight plastic bracelets.

"I don't think I would have been ready to talk about (my problems) then, but I could have come up with something better than gummy bracelets. Needless to say, that publicist is no longer [working] with us," Demi revealed.
