Demi Lovato Defends Her Weight Gain

Demi Lovato has spoken out against critics who have called the actress/singer out on her weight gain since her release from a three-month stint in a treatment facility for issues that included eating disorders (as well as cutting, depression and bipolar disorder).

The 19-year-old star was released from treatment back in January of this year and has since put some much-needed weight onto her once-malnourished frame. Lovato stepped out onto Sunday's (Aug. 28) MTV VMAs black carpet in a metallic mini-dress, showing off her new, healthier figure.

The 'Skyscraper' singer has since become the victim of cruel criticisms about her new curves, but like the teen role model she promised to be, has told the haters to back off!

"I've gained weight. Get over it. That's what happens when you get out of treatment for AN EATING DISORDER," Demi reportedly posted to her Twitter page (the post has since been removed from her account). "Guess what, I'm healthy and happy, and if you're hating on my weight you obviously aren't. :) #UNBROKEN," she added in a tweet that still remains posted on her page.

While Demi calls her recovery an "ongoing process" in an exclusive interview with AOL Music, we're glad to see the young star is looking healthy and owning it. Work it, girl!

The people saying she's fat, really needs to back off! She's more gorgeous than ever! she looks healthy and happy! She is definitely NOT fat! Nothing is wrong with having some curves, especially not when it looks so good! :)

Seriously, these people need to back off. Demi looks beautiful, healthy and happy, that is the most important thing. As long as she's healthy and happy, nothing else matters. I'm glad demi stood up for herself and bashed these haters!

I would luv to know who these idiots are. I think she looks fabulous!!! No win situation for people in the spotlight. First she was criticized for being too skinny and now for gaining weight. People who you will never please are not even worth acknowleding thier existence let alone listening to their opinions. Stay fit, healthy and happy.
