LMFAO Defend Their 'Shuffling' Ways: 'We're Just Smooth Swaggin''

To anyone who's not on top of the latest dance crazes, it certainly seems like electro-rappers LMFAO are the authorities of shuffling. After all, they claim to do it every day in the monster hit 'Party Rock Anthem.'

The duo have taught the fundamentals of the dance -- a postmodern hybrid of the Charleston, the running man and the t-step -- to everyone from Ryan Seacrest to the audiences of major league baseball games. And now they've got porn star Ron Jeremy doing the move while wearing a sparkly speedo in the video for their brand-new single, 'Sexy and I Know It.'

But not everyone is convinced that LMFAO are masters of the shuffle. It's hard to find footage of the pair demonstrating the dance on YouTube without the angry commenting hordes denouncing their skills.

"Too bad LMFAO don't know how to shuffle," opines one commenter.

"RIVER? DANCE NOT SHUFFLE!!!!!!!!" rails a particularly angry caps-locked dance critic.

When asked about the potentially controversial nature of their take on the move, SkyBlu is pragmatic. He just wants to get to the bottom of the criticism and eradicate it.

"Who's saying that? Those buster browns are talking crazy!" he says before deciding to randomly blame the whole mess on a fellow electronica crossover artist. "Deadmau5!" he exclaims, eliciting laughs from the LMFAO entourage.

Redfoo is more philosophical about the whole matter, though.

"There is all levels of shuffling," he muses. "We have our own swag. See, that's like someone saying 'Man, they can't walk. They. Cannot. Walk, man.' But we just walk with a limp. Technically, it looks like we're handicapped, but we're just smooth draggin', you know, smooth swaggin'. A lot of people want to say: 'Here is the Malaysian Shuffle, here is the Melbourne Shuffle.' Who wants to do the same thing that everybody else is doing? And that is the issue.

"So the people, they're probably just learning the shuffle themselves. They're technical, like 'That's not this or that,' because they want to follow. That's like people saying that our stuff maybe isn't hip-hop.

"If you notice everything we've done, we do it like it's our own thing and a pear isn't an apple. It comes from the same family, but the apples were upset at the pears at first. 'That ain't no apple! You ain't no apple!' And the pear was saying, 'I'm not trying! I'm a pear! I'm some new s---.' You know what I mean? And oranges were extremely upset when tangerines... Those tangerines had a hard time at the beginning. And look at kumquats. They almost didn't make it."
