If the reports are true, it would be a first for the pop superstar. We suspect that Madge's future first-time Super Bowl spectacular would most likely feature new music off her forthcoming, as yet untitled twelfth studio album, which is planned for a spring release. The first single is expected to be out in February or March, perfect timing for some of the best TV promo spots available!
Madonna and her camp have yet to confirm the report and a spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment on the matter when asked by SBNation.
The pre-Hydrangeas-hating, film-directing Madonna would have certainly been a bit of a risky pick to feature during the family-oriented football show. After Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake's surprise act of overexposure back in 2004, the NFL has gone for theoretically safer live acts like Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and the Who.
While the 53-year-old provocateur has relatively toned things down a bit as of late, we're sure the 'Material Girl' will pull out all the stops and show us she's still got it with her new material if she does indeed perform at the event.
