Operation Miley Cyrus: Why Mi's Hoping a Trip to Haiti Will Help Change Her Image

Let's be real here, it's been a rough year for Miley Cyrus. Between the salvia bong-smoking drama, her parent's messy breakup and makeup, not to mention the constant bashing her wardrobe takes, girlfriend's in need of an image makeover. And that's just what Miley has set out to do recently, with a schedule filled with charitable "to-dos." Case in point: This week, Miley's jetted off to Haiti for the second time this year with the Starkey Hearing Foundation, an organization raising money for the international distribution of hearing aids.

While Miley has yet to reveal what exactly she'll be doing in the Caribbean country, on a previous visit in February, Mi worked diligently to get hearing aids to people throughout Haiti. Miley even learned how to help fit the device over patients' ears! "Ever since the earthquake, I've been trying to do my part to help the people of Haiti – and I wanted to do more," Miley told PEOPLE magazine at the time.

Besides her work in Haiti, Miley's been busy with another charity close to her heart, To Write Love on Her Arms, which brings awareness to the issues of depression, suicide, addiction and self-injury. Currently, Mi's using her Twitter account to help the organization raise money, tweeting fans: "Hi Guys. Wanted to send a quick note asking that you all please vote for To Write Love on Her Arms today. With our help, they can win a million dollars which will go to treatment for people struggling with depression, addiction and self-injury. They also want to create a tour that will bring nights of music, stories, and resources to cities across America and beyond. With less than they are in 2nd place in Round 1 of the American Giving Awards. Please vote here Please vote for @TWLOHA to win $1,000,000!! Let's bring hope and help to people battling depression and suicide." Wow, heavy stuff, but we've got to admit, between her work with TWLOHA and the trip to Haiti, we're definitely seeing Miley in a different light. Maybe that image of her's isn't so tarnished after all.

Miley is a good person, and has been always. She's young and she makes mistakes just like the rest of us. I like the fact that she picks herself up and goes on. Miley, am proud of you.

are you all serious?! once again, you're all foolishly buying into media trash. miley has been doing many forms of charitable work for a while now, and not once has spoke about it to the media to show it off. she has also been helping usa-based organisations such as TWLOHA as well as helping in Haiti. AOL decide to write an article claiming she's doing it to change her image and you all jump on some hating bandwagon against her. it seems that no matter what she does, whether its good or bad, people are always going to find a way to hate on her.

Hello!

My guess is she is going for more pot. But Haiti is still having problems because of the rampant corruption there. I don't see where she will make much of a difference. Maybe it'll make her grow up a bit. She's done enough already to destroy her image with pics of her on the internet smoking pot, dressing like hooker, and taking pics of herself in her undies. That's what all 17 year olds are supposed to do, right? (Yes, I know she's older now.) She'll toss around some money in Haiti and say, "look what I did!", but she'll still be the same person. I don't see her changing anytime soon.

Honestly I'm not really a fan of Miley's music/ TV work, but what has she done to earn such a bad rap??? Acting like a teenager??? So sometimes she dresses a little hoochie and tried salvia....How many of you never did anything wrong when you were 18? I know I did. The fact of the matter is that she is trying to help others and have a positive impact on those in need. Look at yourselves, you are making judgements and criticizms, but what have you done to help others? I'm sure it's much less than this 18 year old kid has done......Give the poor girl a break and maybe she will surprise you ;-) P.S. Quit complaining about everything on these discussion boards!!!! It's depressing :-D

Taking a trip to a place of broke and probably sex deprived black men (have you seen the women there). Yeah, that will certainly clean up your image. GOOD LUCK!
