On This Day in Pop Music History ...

Michael Jackson was more than a friend to Elizabeth Taylor, he was like family to the Hollywood legend. And on this day in history in 1991, the King of Pop not only hosted Elizabeth's eighth wedding to Larry Fortensky at his Neverland Ranch, he walked Liz down the aisle as if he were her own father. The day of the wedding was like a paparazzi circus, according to an EW's description of the ceremony: "During the event, one guest allegedly smuggled in a camera with fiber-optic lenses as small as hatpins. Shutterbugs dangling from helicopters above the scene wielded Leicas kept steady by hand-held gyroscopes. And that sky diver who landed just feet away from the bride and groom? He was wearing a videocam helmet." Although the celebration was filled with joy for the newlyweds, sadly, the marriage ended in divorce on October 31, 1996 and would prove to be Liz's last.
