Sting Explains Why His Marriage Is Better Than Yours -- Potent Quotables

StingAFP/Getty Images

"I think marriages often fail because once people sign the contract they say, 'That's it.' But a relationship is a living, breathing organism. It needs to be nourished. It also needs to evolve, to be adjusted. You need to compromise and be flexible." -- Sting

On the eve of his 60th birthday, Sting explained to USA Today that the secret to a successful marriage involves "flexibility," which we suspect might be a bit of a double-entendre, seeing how the singer has publicly touted his and his wife's penchant for yoga, tantric sex and exotic, "tawdry" love antics.

Sting has some really beautiful songs!!!! It's nice to see someone sticking to their mate through good times and bad. What marriage doesn't have it's ups and downs right? You're not going to agree on everything, but sometimes you just gotta make things work. Sounds like Sting has a positive outlook.

I know SaveCreatively has some excellent ideas for couples trying to manage their money (whether a ton of it or barely scraping by). Plus right now on their Free Stuff page there's an offer for 20 Free song downloads, so you can check for any Sting songs you want to add to your iPod.

This percieved happy couple are both living a lie! She cannot stand him because he,s a controlling , arrogant ******* who just happens to wear the pants because of his money, also I pick up that he sucks in bed and that she fakes it every time just to satisfy his ego. At his age he probably can,t get it up but she just goes along with it because she,s getting a free ride from an over the hill, aging rock star. Have a nice life ! And what,s his real name anyway? Wait I don,t give a ****!

Thanks for your unsolicited superiority you spoiled, rich, ****.
I seem to recall hearing him boast a decade ago about his 8 hour Tantric love-making as the "key to success".
Why are we even talking to him? He stopped being interesting about 1990 I think.

Sting left out the part that he makes a zillions dollars and his wife lives in the lap of luxury, hence she is HAPPY!!!

Can't stand the guy for some reason...must be his arrogance that's so sickening.

Yeah, his arrogance allows him to write beautiful, meaningful music and give millions to charities around the world. Yep. That's really arrogant.

Why doesn't he and USA Today go ahead and use the term "open marriage?" The couple has admitted they have one, yet the main-stream news outlets and Oprah have skirted around the issue. When he says they're "flexible" he doesn't refer to their sexual gymnastic abilities - he's means that they have an open marriage. Own it.

If couples adopted this philosophy the divorce rate would diminish overnight! And before all you men start applauding this comment, let your wife leave the room first! No sense on sleeping on the couch over an honest blog!

It's really none of our business what goes on in other people's bedrooms or in their private lives.
