Murray's lawyer announced that the doctor, who pleaded "Not guilty" to the charge, is now abandoning his original defense. At the start of the trial, Murray's lawyers argued that the late King of Pop accidentally killed himself by orally self-administering the fatal dose of the prescription drug Propofol -- a misstep that ended his life in June 2009.
As it turns out, an independent study by the defense found that swallowing Propofol would not produce fatal results, so taking the drug orally, as Murray claimed Jackson did, could not have killed him.
Lead lawyer, Ed Chernoff, said in his opening statements that the defense will now go on to claim that the late entertainer self-administered the fatal dose of the drug by injection, not by mouth.
The twist in the trial follows the recent revelation that Jackson's eldest children, Prince and Paris were in their famous father's bedroom at the time of his tragic passing.
If convicted, Murray faces four years in prison.
