Drake Thought Rihanna Fling 'Was More,' Felt 'Naive'

Drake has never been shy in speaking of his fondness for former flame Rihanna. Lyrics like "One of my baddest women ever, I call her Rihanna/ But that's 'cause her name is Rihanna," which he showcases on Rick Ross' 'Made Men,' prove the sentiment.

In the new issue of Elle magazine, the 'Take Care' creator opens up about the woman he collaborated with on the smash 'What's My Name?' Although he says Rihanna didn't have intentions of cracking his heart into pieces, Drake didn't get the love he so desired from the singer.

"At the time it hurt, but she didn't mean to," the Toronto native explains. "I'll never put that on her. I was hurt because I slowly started to realize what it was. I guess I thought it was more."

Drizzy was a newcomer to the rap game at the time they made their connection. He was smitten with the superstar, who already had four albums to her name around 2009, when the pair were first reported to have coupled up. Compared to Drake, he was on his first hit song, 'Best I Ever Had,' and still crafting his debut LP, 'Thank Me Later.'

"That was the first girl with any fame that paid me any mind," he admits. "You spend days reading about this person in magazines. All of a sudden you have this number-one song and you're at some birthday party and there she is. And you're just some naive kid from Toronto staying in some s---ty-ass hotel who got invited to this party on a whim. That's just how it happened."

Drake's sophomore release, 'Take Care,' is scheduled for a Nov. 15 debut.

When you don't have talent you better show some skin...that's what they tell you in the entertainment business,hon. She looked good in a bikini when they found her on the beach so they cleaned her up, gave her some songs and a LOT of PR and production work and TADA!!!!! there you go...a new star for the producers and backers to feed on. She won't be going live on any shows, nor will she go down in history as a great voice because she is simply an illusion made up for the non-musicians of the world to ooh and ahhh over. That's the way it goes, though, because there are a lot of idiots in the world with cash to spend and someone is always right there figuring out a way to take it from them.
