The Material Girl became a first time Material Mama on this day back in 1996. Yes, at exactly 4:01 pm, Madonna gave birth to Lourdes Maria Ciccone Leon at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. Weighing in at a healthy 6-pounds, 9-ounces, Lourdes (who Madonna nicknamed Lola) was immediately the apple of her mother's eye and reportedly was Madge's inspiration for her seventh studio album, 'Ray of Light,' that was released in 1998. "There was a turning point in my life when I realized that all the money in the world would not bring me lasting happiness and fulfillment," Madonna told Parents magazine after Lourdes' birth. "Having children made me realize how making the world a better place starts at home."
