Kina Grannis Surveys the Cuisine of Amsterdam, Switzerland and Copenhagen -- Tour Photo Diary

One Haven Music

'Stairwells' creator Kina Grannis has been our culinary guide through Ireland, Paris and London. But now, in her third Tour Diary installment, she takes us through a rainy day in Amsterdam and her fave eateries in Switzerland and Copenhagen. Life on the road can be tiring, especially when your iPhone gets lost, but Grannis stays upbeat, relying on hot chocolate to warm up her phone-less nights. Stay tuned to see where Grannis heads next on her European tour!

Hello again! Ready for more food talk?

Amsterdam was lovely as always. On my day off, I couldn't help but go back to a place called B&B, which I discovered on my first trip to Amsterdam, for breakfast. It's a simple enough breakfast -- two pieces of toast, two sunny-side up eggs, sliced tomatoes and fresh chives -- but something about it is just perfect. After wandering through the city in the rain all day we slipped into a cafe for the best cup of hot chocolate I've ever had ... and I swear it's not just because it's half whipped cream ...

In Switzerland I ate some amazing traditional Swiss food from the hotel for breakfast. It involved eggs and ham and cheese and this yummy potato thing underneath it all. So good! Also, all the bottled water I had while in Switzerland was a brand called "ARKINA," so of course I had an amazing time covering up the "AR" with my thumb and pretending the bottle had my name on it. So easily amused ...

Highlights in Germany were the Currywurst and Wiener Schnitzel and the surprise sushi dinner with the promoter after the show in Berlin. The NOT highlight of Germany was losing my iPhone, and with it, all my pictures and videos from Zurich, Cologne, and Berlin (hence the lack of photos here), not to mention a ton of pictures and videos from a weekend I spent with my family where my grandfather showed us around where he grew up. Someone please invent an iPhone that can be fastened permanently to my body.

Yesterday in Copenhagen we ventured out and found, 1) the most delicious onion soup I've ever had and, 2) the second most delicious hot chocolate I've ever had. Perhaps I should cut down on my hot chocolate consumption. (It would be wrong of me not to mention that, as I write this, I have a cup of instant hot chocolate sitting next to me from a vending machine in my Brussels hotel lounge.)

Time for bed.
