Is Pregnant Dev's Baby to Blame for Her Album Delay?

DevGino DePinto, AOL

Following the announcement that pregnant pop singer Dev is expecting her first child on Christmas Eve 2011, Dev's debut album 'The Night the Sun Came Up' has been delayed until a post-due-date release.

After the initial Sept. 20 release date came and went, the secondary Nov. 1 release date for Dev's studio debut has again been pushed back to Jan. 1, realizing Dev's initial fear and reason for not announcing her pregnancy right away.

The 22-year-old admitted that she anticipated that her baby news might delay the release of her album, or worse. "It is scary though. I also thought people were going to hate and/or be sad about this beautiful thing I'm experiencing and I wouldn't be able to celebrate. That I wouldn't be able to put out this album. I thought my label might drop me," Dev revealed.

So is the baby to blame for the delay? Dev seems to be taking the album push-back in stride.

"It was a little hard to change it and I didn't want any of my fans to be upset, but I knew that letting 'In the Dark' grow a little bit would be a positive thing for the album and I knew that being able to add more records would be good for the fans as well -- especially because I can't really perform right now given that I'm seven-and-a-half months pregnant," Dev said coming to terms with the reality of her pregnancy.

On the other hand, mom-to-be Beyonce refuses to let her pregnancy slow her down one bit, launching a new fragrance, releasing two music videos and strutting around town in stilettos while designing fashion-forward maternity wear, despite veteran showbiz mama Britney Spears' advice.
