The ceremony will be taped at Los Angeles' Nokia Theater on January 11, 2012, but there's a whole lot of the nominating process that still has to go down first. Online voting is open now just to nail down who exactly will be nominated for the big awards! When that voting closes on Nov. 8, those online ballots will be tallied and the top five nominees in each category determined. As of right now Katy leads the pack with six nods.
After winning big at the MTV VMAs, Katy's name landed in big People's Choice categories like Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Female Artist, and the singer got double love in the Favorite Music Video category for her 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' rager and Kanye West-assisted 'E.T.' visuals.
Coming in at a close second are 'Party' girl Beyonce, Mother Monster and club hit maker of the year Pitbull for a three-way tie with five nominations each. In musical television news, 'Glee' got some major love and is up for Favorite Network TV Comedy, while its stars Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele are all up for the Favorite TV Comedy Actor and Actress award.
The music star-studded judges panels of 'American Idol' and 'The Voice' will face off for Favorite TV Competition Show, but again, this may all change depending on fan voting to determine the final five official nominees in each category!
