Kelly Clarkson Addresses Lesbian Rumors, Says She's Considered an 'Old Maid' in Hometown

Texas native Kelly Clarkson says her already painful single status is even more stigmatized back in her home state. The 'Stronger' creator may be a veritable girl power poster child, but even 'Miss Independent' finds it tough to return home, as her friends and family relentlessly quiz her about her dating life, or lack there of.

Kelly insists that at 29 years old she is considered and "old maid" nearing spinster status in her hometown. The pop star has to constantly address questions surrounding her sexual orientation due to her long-term single status. Kelly laid those rumors to rest during a recent interview on 'The View' and discussed why her pals back in the small town of Burleson, Texas can't understand why she isn't already married with kids.

"I'm from a small town so everyone's, like, married with children, having children or about to have children, so it's a little hard when you go home ... and that's why people think I'm gay," Kelly admitted. "They're like, 'I don't understand why you're not married.' And I'm like, 'Well, it's not like that, it doesn't happen for everyone.' For Burleson, in Texas... I'm an old maid!"

Kelly reveals that despite her busy schedule, she would love to have a man to come home to. "I've dated some cool guys, but I don't know if I've met someone I can spend the rest of my life with ... I haven't found anyone that I would put that [career] on the side for. I might not wanna do this when I'm 50, so I might as well do as much of it as I can now ... I wanna be married, I wanna find someone ... It looks romantic and all!"

Until then, Kelly will just have to continue being a superstar diva, wowing fans at events like her forthcoming coming performance at VH1's 'Divas Celebrates Soul' special on Dec. 19.

Why does she have to be "gay" because she's single... Is she the only pop star out there that's single? I don't understand that, and I don't understand why Kelly thinks she has to address it, too. This is the second time I've heard this. First on an E! News interview, and now on AOL music. She's young and shes beautiful and she's doesn't have to address gay "rumors." Just keep doing what you're doing, Kelly. Making great music.
