We Day and Free the Children can count some pretty adorable celebrities among its many supporters: Joe Jonas, Shawn Desman, Hedley... and Boo, the 'world's cutest dog.'
For those who aren't familiar with Boo, he's the viral pomeranian phenom whose unusually fluffy coat and perpetual puppy dog eyes have helped him rack up Facebook fans by the millions since his owner created his own page for fun in 2009. Boo lovers can bask in his cuteness with the posted photos and videos, and follow his doggie antics through his status updates. Boo is so popular that he now has a book and has made TV appearances on shows like 'Good Morning America.'
Turns out he's also a pretty effective fundraiser: Last Saturday, the poofy pooch posted a call to action on his Facebook wall:
"Happy sunny Saturday! It's been almost a year since I last posted about the 1 "like" = $1 campaign for my friends at Free the Children. For every like on their We Day facebook page, their sponsors will donate $1... I would like to ask my friends to please help them reach their goal of $1,000,000 by going to http://www.facebook.com/weday and clicking the "like" button. Tell them Boo sent you! :)"
And, boy, did they ever. We Day's wall started filling up with messages from new fans answering the canine call: "Boo sent me!" "Boo!" "Boo this is for you!" Boo sent me too!"
The next day, Boo let his fans know that more than $20,000 had been raised in just one day with their help. And the 'Boo' posts continue to pour in on the We Day wall up to the time of this post's publish. Who knew puppy power was so persuasive?
