Jessica Simpson's Pregnancy Reportedly Unplanned, Halted November 2011 Wedding

In just one year, Jessica Simpson got engaged to her former NFL-player beau Eric Johnson, got knocked up, hid said pregnancy and then finally revealed her baby news this past Halloween. Now, details of the couple's upcoming wedding have hit the web and People reveals that not only was the pregnancy unplanned, but it has resulted in Jess postponing her nuptials -- which were meant to take place this month (Nov.) -- until after the baby arrives.

Jess and Eric announced their engagement last November (2010), and since then, rumors have swirled about the details of the impending nuptials. Everything from the date to the rumored pre-wedding breast reduction Jess was reportedly planning were dissected over and over again in the media.

According to People, the couple will wait until after their first child arrives to walk down the aisle. "They're really excited," a source told the publication of the pregnancy. "They're both very family-oriented and having a baby is something they both wanted. It's wonderful," the source added. "It wasn't something they planned per se, but it's also not something they were trying to avoid."

Happy as the couple may be, unplanned parenthood did cause Jessica and Eric to put the brakes on planning their November 2011 wedding. "They're both still really committed to getting married, and were both really into making decisions about what kind of wedding they wanted," the source claimed.

"It's just going to be at a later date now [because] they really want to enjoy this time in their lives." And despite rumors that the couple is expecting a girl, another source told People that the couple actually does not know the sex of their baby.

How far we've come from promise rings and making Nick Lachey wait until they were married to have sex. She's done the big wedding already, I'm not saying she doesn't deserve to have a beautiful day, but this sounds very much like: we're going to wait so I can be my most beautiful i.e. not pregnant. Seriously. This is your second marriage, you're having a baby and quite frankly, you have the kind of money that if you wanted to, you could've done the ceremony before you were showing so you could have the fabulous "don't look preggers" look. Whatev - this family is just one more example of why so many people tune out when religious folks start talking. It irritates me to no end to see how quickly folks who view themselves as "setting a moral example" for the rest of us heathens, topple from their high horses when confronted with the journey called life. It's very entertaining. From virgin bride to having a child out of wedlock - amazing how money and fame REALLY brings out those core Christian values! :)

And they need the big fancy wedding to get married? If they were getting married anyway and now she's pregnant, they can go to City Hall. She can have a big party later.

It's called commitment phobia. The guy has second thoughts and the girl has second thoughts and neither is thinking about the baby. They want to be children forever, but they have a child on the way so it is time to grow up and stop "shackin up"! I wonder how Jessica's father is taking this? He is a former Minister!

I don't think she gives a crap about her singing anymore...she's kinda replaced that with a $750 million (soon to be $1 billion) fashion line. Idiot? Hm...

What happened to getting married first, then having a baby?

What I don't get is if they were already engaged to be married, why not just get married when they found out about the baby? Why wait until after its born? And what's the big deal of having a wedding while being big as a house? Many "celebs" (using the term very loosely) have gotten married while preggers. I've seen many in this situation who NEVER get married after. For some reason, they don't they have to. They stay engaged forever and then break up.
