The annual TV special, now in its 19th year, highlights some of the most prominent names in entertainment, sports and popular culture. No wonder the 27-year-old songstress made the coveted list! The number one Most Fascinating Person of 2011 will be announced on the program, which airs on ABC on Dec. 14 at 9:30PM EST, and Katy is up against the entire Kardashian family, Simon Cowell, 'Modern Family' stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet, New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter, Pippa Middleton and Donald Trump!
That's some pretty stiff competition, but the 'Teenage Dream' creator really has a shot at taking the dream title. After all, she won big at the 2011 MTV VMAs and matched the King of Pop, Michael Jackson's record of earning five No. 1 songs off a single album, becoming the first and only woman to achieve the milestone!
Katy also spent 2011 entertaining the world on her sold-out California Dreams Tour, and if our AOL Music staff predictions are correct, Katy is sure to grab Grammy nods in some of the biggest categories at tonight's nominee announcement.
We know why we love Katy so much, but just what does Walters find so interesting about the pop star? Tune into the show to find out and to see if Katy ends up topping the list!
