Avril Lavigne, Deryck Whibley: Exes Share Intimate Dinner in Hollywood

It was like a scene out of 2006: Paparazzi caught Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley leaving a dinner date together, huddled close to shield one another from the camera's harsh flash. The only problem ... it's 2012, and these two have been divorced for over a year. What's going on?

No need for Av's boyfriend, Brody Jenner, to worry! This cozy moment was nothing more than a celebration dinner between the now-friends. The incredibly well-adjusted exes were toasting Whibley's band, Sum 41, being nominated for a Grammy award in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category.

Despite their divorce, Avril and Deryck have openly remained in each other's lives. In fact, Av told AOL Music that her ex-hubby not only inspired songs on her current CD, 'Goodbye Lullaby,' he also helped produce the album!

The single off 'Goodbye Lullaby' that perhaps explains why Avril continues to keep Deryck in her life is 'Wish You Were Here.' "The message with 'Wish You Were Here' is looking back and remembering all the good times and missing somebody," Avril told us of the emotional song. "And we all go through missing someone at some point in our lives, whether it's someone we've separated from or had a falling out with."

Sounds like Av couldn't stand being without her former flame. Glad to see exes really can remain friends!

'yep I guess I was asleep too, cause I don't even remember the ball coming down in Time Square with a 2012 on it, and I don't even remember drinking anything, heck even my watch has the wrong year.
