"Gaga has always been absolutely fixated on Diana and sees herself as a 21st-century incarnation of her," a source tells U.K. paper 'The Sun.' "She knows she is almost as recognizable as Diana and is hounded by photographers and fans on the same level. Gaga has had dreams about dying the same way as her and has genuine fears that her fame could literally kill her, either in a chase or at the hands of crazies."
Mother Monster's love of the deceased royal has been documented in the past, with LG admitting to 'V' magazine that Lady Di was the inspiration for the visuals to her 'Paparazzi' video. "Yes, Diana was the most iconic martyr of fame," she told the mag. "She died because of it." Ironically, that cover story for the publication was shot by Mario Testino, one of Diana's favorite photographers.
Now it seems the iconic princess is inspiring Gaga all over again, this time in the form of a song, which LG reportedly wrote in honor of the fallen royal. According to 'The Sun,' "Gaga played a piano version of her new song to a select few last month. One critic described it as packed with 'bitter lyrics' around a 'trademark catchy chorus.'
No word yet on when this supposed song could be released, but perhaps Lady G will test it out in front of live audiences during her upcoming world tour.
