Christina Perri Carjacked in Los Angeles -- How She Fought Back

'Jar of Hearts' singer Christina Perri had the scare of her life last night (Dec. 12) when a unidentified man attempted to carjack the star in Los Angeles. According to TMZ, Perri was able to fight off the assailant after he forcibly tried to enter her car.

Police sources tell TMZ that they responded to the scene after receiving a frantic call from Perri. The singer reportedly had been waiting to pull into a building during the wee hours of the morning, when a male approached her car and attempted to open the driver's side door.

As the gossip site reports, "The man instructed her to 'move over' and tried to shove himself into the car -- but she wouldn't budge ... and a struggle ensued."

So how exactly did the brave songstress fight off the thug? Besides physically defending herself, Perri also honked her car's horn in an attempt to draw attention to her attack.

Thankfully Christina was able to ward off her would-be carjacker, but did not get off totally unscathed. According to reports, Perri was struck on the head and numerous places on her body during the attack.

Police have not identified a suspect as of yet. We'll continue to update as this story develops.

When I start my car my doors lock automatically. Even if I unlock them they relock every time I hit 16 miles an hour. On top of that, I never go anywhere without my pistol. I'm sure that if you have enough money you can get a CCW, even in California.

Seems silly that she would risk her life to fight for a piece of metal thats insured. No car or other replaceable inanimate object is worth your life. What if the carjacker was armed? If she had been shot or very seriously hurt would the car really have been worth it?

I do not know what the suspect's intentions were, and apparently neither did Perri at the time. I see nothing in this article to indicate that he told her to leave, or that he just wanted the car. Women who get kidnapped in cases like this often end up dead, I am told. The advice that I have previously heard from police is to fight for your life in a situation like that, in any way possible. I live with a woman who was beaten and raped once, and she decided to arm herself. I am physically disabled myself, and being beaten bloody and robbed once was enough for me, too. Again, what are the residents of some California counties to do for self-defense when they are denied a gun carry permit?...

With all of the hair colors, maybe the jacker thought he was being attacked by a gecco. Good meth (see earlier story about trucker) will do that!

Unless it is HOT out & I will be somewhere for a long time I take one of my protection dogs with me. I avoid being on the road or in a lonely place in the dark away from home. There is another equally protective dog at home. They are not vicious or crazy, but KNOW their job. On short trips I leave the AKC on if it is hot. If it is cold I wrap a crate with a blanket & only leave the bottom 1/2 of the front open.
This keeps in her body heat but gives ventilation for breathing. One window is cracked on the bottom for fresh air.
NO BODY bothers me or the vehicle. Otherwise carry a taser for sure. There are MANY nutsos out there !! That given, most people don't have common sense nor will they take good advice. So don't feel too sorry for such put upon people. Both dogs cost $300.00 a year to feed with a very good brand of food. I do my own worming & innoculations as "shots" only cost about $3.00 each and are given sub Q. Rabies innocs are free. Collars are SS and last thru several dogs. Leashes are horse leads & two of mine are 30 years old. Beds are discarded couch cushions put into a plastic garbage bags and wrapped in yard sale blankets, bedspreads, etc., knoted on the underside. Toys are empty water bottles, tree limbs, smoked knuckle bones & bulk rawhide rolls. The latter two keep the teeth clean & illiminate vet cleanings even in my 13 year old. Treats are peppermint candy. Biscuits with wheat make GAS. I bathe, groom & cut nails myself ( I'm 76). High quality crates(not from pet shops) last & last.
Current dogs are 15th generation my breeding, so I've illiminated 99% of problems by selecting only the best for breeding. LONG TERM STRATEGIES work best. Acquiring the dogs from a dedicated, long time, successful show breeder WORKS. They don't breed to sell, but to KEEP for a breeding program. Read books & go to some dog shows. Educate yourself.

I have a friend who keeps a tazer in the side pocket of his door. Starting to sound like a good idea. BTW we're not allowed to have conceled firearms in califorina, because there's too many gang bangers... how's that work?

I carry a hangun on my hip. I come from a more sensible state where they do not take away the right of law abiding citizens to carry under the absurd guise of keeping the gang banger slime from doing so. News flash, CA, the criminals don't care about your silly permit so you are only taking it away from those who follow the law anyway.

So she had her door unlocked? Not a good practice at all - I have often thought also that cars should show easily at a glance that all doors are locked, so you don't accidentally panic in a situation like this and accidentally UNLOCK the door when you most definitely don't want too -
