The recently reunited New Directions are faced with a dilemma when offered the opportunity to perform at two holiday events at the exact same time. The holidays make Irish exchange student Rory Flanagan start missing his family, giving him some common grounds with Sam, who left his family to return back to Ohio on his own. We smell a new bromance! Also, 'Star Wars' character Chewbacca makes an appearance on the show for a throwback tribute to the 'Star Wars Holiday Special,' which aired in 1978. Chewy will not, however, sing during the episode!
The 'Extraordinary Merry Christmas' episode was named for the 'Glee' original song of the same name, which is performed by Rachel and Blaine in tonight's episode and on the cast's holiday album, 'Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album Volume 2.' The episode also features covers of eight holiday classics including Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' performed by Amber Riley, 'Let It Snow,' 'My Favorite Things,' 'Blue Christmas,' 'Christmas Wrapping,' 'River, and 'Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.'
As reported last week by AOL Music, 100% of the proceeds from the cast performance of 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' will benefit The Band Aid Trust, renowned for its humanitarian work in East Africa. Listen to all nine songs from tonight's episode before it airs, below!
