As reported by The BoomBox, Janet Jackson has never been ashamed to talk about her weight loss and gain. Thanks to this candidness, weight-loss company Nutrisystem has tapped Ms. Jackson to be the face of its newest campaign, Nutrisystem Success.

According to Reuters, Nutrisystem chief executive Joe Redling approached Jackson about his weight-loss program after reading her New York Times best-selling book, 'True You,' which details her struggles with body image and personal relationships. Redling offered the icon Nutrisystem's pre-packaged foods to sample while on tour. After that, Jackson agreed to sign on for the endorsement deal.

"When I was in hair and makeup, we were all taste testing," Jackson revealed. "Everybody was going crazy for it."

On Nutrisystem, people can expect to lose at least 1 to 2 pounds per week. While Jackson is determined to help America slim down, she said that she's not putting a number amount as she goes through the plan. "I'm going about this a different way by not putting a pound amount on it," she stated. "It's about when I feel healthy, about when I feel good. That is how I want to be."

Those who enroll in the plan will also be helping to put a dent in the hunger crisis throughout the world. Nutrisystem will donate $1 worth of food to people in need for every pound its dieters loose in 2012. Nutribank.org was created by Jackson and Redling to work with hunger organizations around the world.
