Britney Spears and Kevin Federline couldn't make their own marriage work, but that doesn't mean the former backup dancer holds any ill will towards his ex-wife. In fact, after Brit announced her engagement to longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick over the weekend, KFed was quick to voice his approval of the union.

"I'm really happy for her -- I think he's a great guy," the 33-year-old told Australia's TV WEEK magazine. "It's a good step in the right direction. I'm totally happy for her."

Federline, who's currently down under filming the reality weight loss show, 'Excess Baggage,' admits that despite having two sons together, he and Spears haven't remained close since their split. "I haven't spoken to her much since I've been over here, both of us have been busy with her being on tour."

However, KFed is impressed with Britney's current comeback. "I do know from talking to the kids and talking to the kids' teachers that they're doing really good," reveals Kevin.

Many attribute Brit's positive turnaround to her new fiance Trawick. Since the two began dating, Britney's gotten back into shape, released a hit record, crossed the globe for her smash world tour and in general admits to feeling far more at peace her in life.
