Selena Gomez: Mother Suffers Miscarriage, Selena Cancels Concerts (REPORT)

It was a sad weekend for pop star Selena Gomez and her family. The singer's mother, who'd just publicly announced her pregnancy, has reportedly suffered a miscarriage. Selena, who was scheduled to perform concerts in both Chicago and Seattle, immediately cancelled the shows to rush home to be with her mom.

According to E! News, Selena was at Power 106's Cali Christmas 2011 concert in Los Angeles this past Friday night when she was told of the tragedy. Gomez rushed to leave the show and headed home to be by her mother's side.

Fans of the star, who is an only child, are well aware of Selena's desire to have a sibling. Just this past Thanksgiving, an over the moon Sel joyously tweeted: "Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news... My mommys carrying my baby brother or sister :) I'm the happiest girl in the world!"

Yesterday, in the wake of the painful experience, lifelong best friend Demi Lovato took to her own Twitter to send Selena positive thoughts during the tragedy. "@selenagomez I love you" tweeted the star.

Our own thoughts and prayers go out to Selena and her family during this trying time.

Okay, I've sacrificed a fair amount of my time to teach people on here how to not be ignorant..... I speak for the people who have meant for you to learn this before and for the people you know nothing about with your lack of research.

The last thing I want to say is that Selena and her mom deserve to be seen as daughter and mother and as good people. I am glad Selena is a good role model and that her mother is, too.

Honey..... what the hell are you talking about?? Where are your sources? I would love to meet them. They sure as hell don't match up to anything that wasn't written in a sleazy tabloid that feeds on the wallets of consumers who like to feel better about themselves by focusing on a celebrity in a bathing suit the magazine uses lies to sell the idea that she is "obsessed with sex." If she wasn't famous, she could be ANY pretty girl on a beach, but as long as a celebrity is wearing a two-piece bathing suit, is in public or doing anything else like the average beach-goer..... And where in Carmen San Diego's world are you coming up with the idea that her mom is obsessed with sex??? There is no information indicating that. Is it because sex was on your mind when you were reading a depressing article? Maybe you need to get laid.

Poor girl.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her mother and her family.
Stop junking about old her mom is already. Either way, it was terrible that it happened.
And even so, things like that just happen sometimes, to either young or old expecting mothers.
