Dolly Parton: Divas Are Determined, Not Demanding -- Potent Quotabels

"I don't even know what a diva is. I think it's someone that's strong in their beliefs, strong in their own talent, strong in who they are. I see a lot of divas around here, and some say I am one, and I don't know if that's true or not. Do you think I'm a diva?" -- Dolly Parton

Country queen Dolly Parton dishes on the what makes a diva a diva in an interview with MTV on the 2011 VH1 DIVAS Celebrate Soul red carpet. The 65-year-old singer is as well known for her sassy attitude and commanding presences as she is for her music -- it's no wonder she was called on to represent for all the divas out there at the concert special.

I love Dolly, but I just wished she still looked like she did in the 1970's, before all that surgery. She looks so fake now. I loved her more natural look from the 60's and 70's. But she's still a great entertainer and singer. The best.

My son is now 37 1/2 years old. When he was 3/4, and Dolly Parton would come on, he would run up to the TV and give her a kiss.

She doesn't know what a diva is because she's not one. Leave that up to the egostical, conceited, self absorbed pop queens who think they're goddesses.

I love Dolly but wish she would STOP getting her face uplifts & such. I thought her lips looked like the jokers in Batman. Please Dolly, age natural like I've always known you to be. I LOVE YOU....

Dolly Parton has always been my favorite country girl singer as it was my daughter's before she passed away her all time favorite we Me & Andy. Back in those when country was really country there was Loretta, Tammy & Jan Howard, Connie Smith now those where good country girls but Dally was the best.

I read "Coal Miner's Daughter", and "Stand by Your Man" years ago. Does Dolly have a biography or autobiography?

"9 to 5" is still as refreshing and delightful as it was when it was released in 1980. With Dolly, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin playing the three main characters - very disgruntled employees - evil boss man Dabney Coleman never had a chance and got just what he deserved!

Dolly Parton is an incredible talent, truly admirable -- not a spoiled and demanding diva.
