Selena Gomez: Mom's Miscarriage Addressed in Heartfelt Letter to Fans

Selena GomezJeff Kravitz, FilmMagic

After spending what surely was an emotional holiday with her family, Selena Gomez has finally broken her silence and addressed her mother's recent miscarriage through a letter to fans. In the brief but moving message, posted on Selena's Twitter and Facebook pages, the singer thanks her legions of followers for their support, and reveals the planned name for the baby.

"I can't thank you enough for all of your thoughts and prayers," Gomez wrote yesterday (Dec. 26) afternoon. "I love you all so much," she added. "We hope you and your family had a beautiful Christmas!"

The message was signed by Selena, her mom and stepfather, as well as "our guardian angel Scarlett."

Selena's mother, who had just publicly announced her pregnancy this past Thanksgiving, reportedly suffered the miscarriage the week before Christmas. At the time, Gomez cancelled various concert engagements to rush home to be with her mom.

During her family's tragic time, boyfriend Justin Bieber stuck by Selena's side, visiting the singer and her mother in the hospital after their loss. Cameras even caught what appeared to be Justin tearing up as he drove into the hospital's parking garage.

Hopefully with this cathartic letter, the healing process has now begun for Selena. We're sure the singer's New Year's Eve plans, which involve ringing in 2012 with longtime best friend, Demi Lovato, will help ease Selena's shock and pain and start her new year off on a brighter note.

Ok, sad n ews for this family. But is nothing private or kept personal anymore? Why Tweet or FB post about it? Cancel a concert, go home and let your publicist issue a brief statement. Please keep your business ro yourself. I doubt seriously that legions of people are wringing their hands over this.

Compassion much? This was what would have been a joyful time and their unborn baby died. Yeah the world has alot of trouble and bigger issues but for her family, the world turned upside down. Can't say anything productive, shut up since you're not helping anything. The girl is famous, you know nothing is private with fame. Don't really think she cares how you feel about it or that you know. If she even tweets herself without an administrator I'd be surprised.

Have some compassion, dude. Yes, stuff like this happens everyday, but you don't think she deserves ANY support? I'm sure if this happened to any of your close friends, you'd feel for them too.

That's what I'm saying... between twitter and FB it seems as though nobody really cares about what's going on in the real world... just about the attention they can/may receive from these social networking sites.
